The New Mexico Rural Electric Cooperatives (NMREC) is dedicated to representing New Mexico’s electric cooperatives at the New Mexico Legislature, the Public Regulation Commission, and other state agencies. NMREC works closely with its members to ensure that the voices of our cooperative membership are heard in the New Mexico State Capitol.
New Mexico’s electric cooperatives are based on the principle of democratic member control, meaning all members served by the electric cooperative have a vote and a voice in setting the cooperative’s policies and strategic direction.
This commitment to democratic decision-making extends to the cooperative’s efforts to reach out to members of Congress and the New Mexico Legislature to make them aware of cooperative priorities and issues that affect cooperative members. NMREC will advocate for legislative changes that will positively impact New Mexico’s electric cooperatives and the communities we serve.
